My name is Nicole Rimbey, and I am a Pennsylvania certified K-12 Art Teacher.
I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts from Slippery Rock University, where I dabbled primarily in traditional media. My culminating exhibition, titled Into the Future, presented photographs of people dressed as they pictured themselves in the future. As part of the art education program at SRU, I received my K-12 art teaching certification through Carlow University. I completed my student teaching assignment in the Ellwood City School District, where I traveled to four different elementary schools during my placement, with one of those being art on a cart! In my high school placement, I taught a variety of courses ranging from ceramics, digital photography, to two-dimensional design.
In 2014, I received my Master of Arts in Art Education from Youngstown State University. As my graduate capstone project, I presented an exhibition of my work titled Androgynous Encounters. The exhibition focused on my fiber and printmaking work.
Since 2011, I have been working in the eLearning realm. I began my career with Lincoln Learning Solutions as an online art teacher where I facilitated student progress and success through electronic means of communication. I was responsible for student progress monitoring, adjusting coursework/exams per IEPs, as well as holding office hours through Blackboard Collaborate where students could attend and work through difficult concepts with me virtually. In this role, I taught grades 3-12 in courses such as digital photography, fashion design, graphic design, art history, and an arts enrichment course.
In 2014, I moved over to the curriculum department where I became the Manager of Curriculum Development for all electives: art, music, health, physical education, family and consumer sciences, technology, and business. This role allowed me to use my creativity in a different way. My primary duty is to oversee the development of electives coursework from infancy to completion. I have extensive experience with the following:
developing learning objectives/outcomes
writing and aligning educational content to national and state standards
collaborating with SMEs and media artists to create engaging and relevant educational content
outlining project tasks and identifying deadlines
developing workflows and processes to ensure project completion
creating supportive media assets such as procedural videos
In addition to my career, I am also a practicing artist and own my own photography business. While I love the work that I get to do daily, I miss working directly with students and fostering their creativity.
